EVENT: 23rd Annual Lone Pine Film Festival
DATES: October 5th, 6th & 7th
2012
Arrive: Thursday October 4th
and Depart Monday October 8th (5 DAYS and 4 NIGHTS)
LOCATION: Lone Pine, CA
Surrounded by the
beautiful high peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the small town of Lone Pine lays right
off Hwy 395 in northeast California.
Just to the west of town, lie the Alabama Hills, known for their unique
and impressive rock formations. These ‘Alabamas’, as they’re frequently referred
to, have attracted swarms of film crews from Hollywood since the days of silent
films.
During the heyday of the B Western, the
town of Lone Pine was alive with film shoots, stars, and all the grandeur that
comes with the movie set. Even today, Hollywood continues filming here,
utilizing the fantastic scenery of the rocks, hills, mountains, and surrounding
high desert lands.
Besides being known for the Alabama Hills & Movie Road, Lone Pine is
also noted for its wonderful Beverly & Jim Roger’s Film History Museum, the
Keough Natural Hot Springs and having Mt. Whitney (the tallest Mountain in the
U.S.) in its backyard! In
addition, the Manzanar Relocation Camp & Visitor Center is nearby.
This year marks the 23rd year for
the extremely popular Lone Pine Film Festival. Campground reservations fill
up a year in advance, so spaces are limited! Make your reservation with RVW
soon to assure a spot. Your Film Festival Package includes three days of
movies, a Museum Gala on Thursday, admittance to all Celebrity Star Panel
discussions, 20% off on unique movie-site guided tours, and much more! See the details of last year’s Film
Festival on their website www.lonepinefilmfestival.org. The final program for 2012 is not yet posted, but will be
online as soon as it is finalized.
