NOVEMBER 4-12, 2018
Heart of Dixie Chapter
Mississippi and Louisiana
A “roving” three-campground tour:
Percy Quin State Park
Fountainebleau State Park
Come join us for all or part of a week-long, informal "roving" RV campout at three different and diverse locations.
1. The trip starts on Sunday, November 4 for three nights at Percy Quin State Park (http://mdwfp.com/parks-destinations/state-parks/percy-quin/camping/) outside of McComb, Mississippi. Mary Quaid has already reserved site #56. Reservations are made online through ReserveAmerica. Martha Scarbrough will soon be booking her site as well.
2. The second stop is on Wednesday, November 7 for two nights at Pontchartrain Landing (http://www.pontchartrainlanding.com/index.html) just minutes away from New Orleans, Louisiana. While the cost is high (about $70 a night depending on your location), the park considers itself “luxury casual living” and has a lot to offer including a shuttle into the French Quarter, swimming pool, hot tub, a great full-service restaurant and live entertainment. The park is located on the Industrial Canal just feet away from Lake Pontchartrain. To make your reservation call 504-286-8157, pick what level of site you want (Mary is on a black site) and say that you want to be near “Quaid”. Martha will be booking her stay here as well.
3. The third stop is on Friday, November 9 for three nights at Fountainebleau State Park (https://www.crt.state.la.us/louisiana-state-parks/parks/fontainebleau-state-park/index) in Mandeville, Louisiana and ends our trip on November 12. Mary is booked on site C1069 in the North Campground. Booking is online through ReserveAmerica. Be careful to pick a site that will accommodate the length of your rig.
While Martha will not be joining us, one of our newest members, Irene Webber, will be there with her church group. If you are interested, book your reservations and let Mary know by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org (she will acknowledge all emails) or call/text her at 225-936-9328. We will decide on activities based on how many folks are attending and everyone’s interest. Of course, members of other chapters are welcome as well! And, if it is just a few of us, that’s fine too, as peaceful hikes and a good book are always a welcome escape.
Please contact Mary Quaid at email@example.com or 225-936-9328 if you have questions.
