SEPTEMBER 5-8, 2019
Heart of Dixie Chapter
Ocean Springs, Mississippi
Davis Bayou Campground
One of our newest members, Sheryl Wynters, is hosting this Thursday through Sunday rally at Davis Bayou Campground, part of the Gulf Island National Seashore. This small, quaint campground is just east of downtown Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and offers electrical (30 and 50 amp) and water hookups as well as a dump station. The campground is nestled among live oaks and pine trees and is adjacent to a saltwater marsh. Davis Bayou offers many recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, biking, bird watching, picnicking and attending ranger-led programs. Visitors may also enjoy hiking along the Davis Bayou Trail, which takes visitors through a coastal forest and over two local bayous, with an opportunity to see alligators and other reptiles.
Booking is through Recreation.gov. Go to recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/250796/availability to check availability, select your site, and reserve it. Sheryl is on site #13 and Mary Quaid has booked site #15 (with sites 11-19 being in a semi-circle, perfect for a group). Once you have booked (or think you want to come), please contact Sheryl via email at firstname.lastname@example.org (and cc our Wagon Master, Mary Quaid, at email@example.com) and let her know what site you booked. We will then keep you informed about get-togethers, organized activities, and more.
Davis Bayou Campground is located at 3500 Park Road, Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
