Texas Ramblin’ Roses Chapter

Join the Roses for a trip to the western frontier. There is plenty to do in Abilene. You might be interested in a fun and informative poetic walking tour of historic downtown Abilene led by Gus McDusty, the cowboy poet. How about a trip to the Taylor County History Center/Buffalo Gap Historic Village to explore the western frontier from 1875 to 1925, or a trip to the Frontier Texas Museum? You might enjoy the Grace Art Museum or the 12th Armored Museum. A visit to historic Fort Phantom Hill or the Abilene Zoo might be on your agenda. The National WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) Museum in Sweetwater is a 40-mile drive, but did you know that between 1942 and 1944, women flew every aircraft in the Army’s arsenal? Kayaking, birdwatching and hiking are also a possibility at nearby Abilene State Park.

We have reserved 25 sites for the Rally rate of $40/night which includes 30/50-amp, full hookups, including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The park will hold sites until March 1 and will also honor the rate a few days before. Please remember that our rallies are very popular and fill up fast. Contact the manager, Lauren, at 325-704-5252 to make your reservations. They do not have cabins, but the park may have an RV for rent and, of course, Abilene has lots of motels for those without RVs. The resort has a swimming pool, laundry rooms, and doggy parks.

Your rally hosts are Brenda McPherson, Tricia Harvey and Paula Kinter. We hope to be able to have a potluck by then, with your hostesses providing the meat.

Make your reservations and then contact Brenda at 325-725-7281 or email her at to let her know you will be attending.
